I beg leave to state that I have waited nearly a year for the alteration taking place, and trust that in the event of immediate change being contemplated, you will do me the favor of bringing my case to the favorable consideration of His Excellency the Acting Governor with a view to his authorizing a temporary allowance being paid to me equivalent in amount to the increase contemplated by His Excellency Sir Hercules Robinson.

I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter No. 9 of yesterday's date submitting an application on the part of Mr. Da Silva, the Audit Clerk, for an increase to his salary.

I am directed to inform you that His Excellency the Acting Governor will, on the next occasion of altering the Civil List Ordinance, propose the insertion of £400 a year instead of £300.
