The increase His Excellency proposes is, to Mr Barradas £100 per annum to put him on the same footing as other first Clerks in the service; to us heiria £50, and to Meso Machado and Alves, £25 each.

This increase will be placed under the head of provisional and temporary, as it is proposed to be granted to the Officers in question on account of their length of service, and is not to be taken to be the fixed salary of their respective offices. It is also His Excellency's intention to ask the Secretary of State to sanction this increase from the 1st July next, the Expenditure to be provided in the supplementary Estimates of this year.

The increased pay however will not be issued until approval is received.

His Excellency does not consider it necessary to take into consideration the application of Messrsrs Costa and del Aquila.
