HONGKONG, 20TH DECEMBER, 1862
A MEETING of the Subscribes to the SAILOR'S HOME was held at the Office of the Ilonorary Secretary this day, at which were present Messrs Perceval, Chorley, Murray, Lapraik, Block, Kup, Sharp, and Caldbeck.
On the motion of Mr Murray, seconded by Mr Chomley, Mr Perceval was invited to take the chair.
The Honorary Secretary submitted the accounts of the Institution, showing an actual balance in the books of the Oriental Bank of $21,681.00 to the credit of the Home.
Mr Rawling having submitted his plans for the proposed buildings (which were unanimously ap- proved of), together with an estimate of the probable cost, and having stated that the ground was now ready to be built upon, it was proposed by Mr Chomley, seconded by Mr Block, and resolved.-that Mr Rawling he empowered to proceed at once, under the direction of the Committee of Management, with the erection of the buildings for European and Indian

Proposed by Mr Murray, seconded by Mr Block, and resolved, that Mesars H. B. Gibb, E. F. Parker, A. Turing, R. McMurdo, and J. Caldbeck be elected as Directors for the ensuing year in the place of Messrs: J. Gibb, J. Heard, Walkinshaw, Fletcher, and Thom- sett, who retire.
Proposed by Mr Murray, seconded by Mr Sharp, and resolved, that Messrs Caldbeck and McMurdo act as members of the Committee of Management for the ensuing year, in the place of Messra Murray and Thomsett, who retire.
Mr Sharp having kindly offered his services to collect subscriptions, his offer was thankfully ac
