referred to and after much consideration it appeared desirable to adopt the English Patent Law with such special provisions the circumstances of the Colony required-

The Ordinance authorised the grant of Letters patent by, ot a Petition to the Governor with 2ndly a declaration &

Secretary 4th upon advertisements specifying

the time when the petition will come

for hearing before the Governor and

Council - Clause 4 of the Ordinance gives

such effect within the Colony to the patent if it had been granted under the powers. in the English Uct and Clause 5gives

power to extend patents if extended in England.

No patents can be granted except after patent for the Invention has been granted in England.
