His Excellency then stated that the Chief-
Justice (who
was absent) had verbally expressed his concurrence in the

that mercy might be extended to the

The Council, after deliberation, advised
His Excellency to Commute the Sentence into Penal Servitude for life.- Whereupon, the Governor determined, that the Sentence be commuted accordingly.
Order
was made, under the provisions of Ordinance No 9 of 1857, for prohibiting
Wong- a Yow from residing or being
within this Colony for the term of
Five
years from this date.
