abroad in such and such a manner shall be received in the Court of Probate in Hongkong.

It may not be out of place to remark that the clauses in question were taken almost verbatim from the Act of the Imperial Parliament 22 & 23 Vict. Cap. 95.

§§. 31 & 32. – In adopting them it was conceived that the language of sections which had received the sanction of the Imperial Legislature was sufficiently plain. And further if the sections which have hitherto stood as Sections X and XI of Ordinance No. 8 of 1860 were erroneously framed, so also must be the corresponding sections of the Act above mentioned.

A further exception taken to Ordinance No. 8 of 1860 was that Section XV purported to give the Court in Hongkong powers which could only be granted by Imperial Parliament, e.g., the power to issue a mandamus to the Supreme Courts in other Colonies.
