whom I have consulted consider the site proposed by Mr. Cleverly fully as good as the other. I enclose a Certificate to this effect from Dr. Kaye the ablest medical practitioner in the Colony and from the Acting Colonial Surgeon.
The advantages of this site over that selected by the late Colonial Secretary's Department are:- it contains 193 acres, the other only about 50: The available building ground alone, in the cantonment recommended by the Major General, exceeding 50 acres.
It can be prepared for building at much less expense.
The Military advantages, one over the other, are in my opinion as follows:- In space, it is nearly four times as large, the other has an equal elevation and is nearer the only running spring in the Peninsula.
