approved service as Interpreters, the Salary be increased to 2000, and after free years Service
an Interpreter to be considered eligible, in the event of
suitable vacancies occurring,
for promotion in the Civil Service, and "Ceteris paribus" be preferred to other candidates.
8.
That the Cadets while studying Chinese shall be
under the Control and
supervision of the Governor who shall frame regulations
for
their hours
of Study and
general government. That their progress shall be tested by half yearly examination,
and that every Cadet shall
be liable at
any
time to
be sent home to his friends,
if his conduct or
progress should be considered by the Governor and Executive Council to be so unsatisfactory
as to render such a step
desirable.
