Buildings in a convenient part of the Town. There can now be obtained by the purchase of the premises in the property of Gough Gough Shee the American Baptist Society which have within the last few days been offered for sale.
I enclose the Surveyor General's Report on the value of the property referred to. I this day brought the subject before the Legislative Council, when it was unanimously resolved that it was desirable at once close with the offer of £4,270.16.8 (20,000 dollars) for the premises, and that provision would be made for the expenditure in the Supplementing Estimates and Appropriation Ordinance to be passed at the close of the current year.
I trust that your Excellency will approve of this outlay, which must, I think, be considered more in the nature of an investment than of ordinary expenditure.
