Cases of such officers" (in case of retirement from bad health) "should be dealt with under the clause (of Superannuation Act) "as they arise.

As this clause refers not to allowances on account of ill health, but to allowances on account of professional acquirements, it does not apply to Mr. Ingles, which therefore remain to be treated on general grounds.

It would seem from the Minute already quoted that their Lordships have declined to lay down any general rule as to the period which should elapse before a Colonial officer is offered a pension. In one case, pensions were granted after 7 years, in another after 10 years.
