I am to observe
that the
Report of
the Committee
on the Superannuation
inserted in
the Treasury minute
of the 24th April 1860 contains
a recommendation that
in the case of
Civil
Servants
of
the Crown
holding offices in
unhealthy Colonies,
an allowance
should be made to receive superannuation
on retirement from bad health, after
"seven years"
But should
his Lordship consider it
inexpedient, pending
the settlement of
a pension scheme for Hongkong,
to lay down any general rule,
there appears to be sufficient
case in Mr Austin's
for special consideration
On this the Lords of the
Treasury record their
opinion "that it is
not expedient at present
to lay down any general
