In the first place it is a matter of great delicacy when the Executive interferes with the Judicial Authority, and in a recent despatch,
the Secretary of State condemned in strong terms

interference

of the late Government of this Colony, laying it down
specifically that in the
administration of affairs in
a British Colony
"authorities should not
"allow themselves to be
governed by Eastern "Standards."
Secondly, the case
has already been referred to the Home Government, whose decision is
awaited.
