engagement to pay on account of a debt incurred previous to my rejoining

With reference to the last paragraph of your

letter in which

I am informed me that the Colonial Treasurer has

been directed to make no

further payment of salary to me until further

only trust that His Excellency may,

a re-consideration

of the circumstances

under which this loss

arose, and the fact of my

possessing

no other

pecuniary resources,

see fit to relax the severity of the order issued to the Colonial Treasurer.
