To complete the history of oversights in the matter of Japanese jurisdiction, although not directly concerned with the present case,
may mention that Letters Patent giving the Supreme Court concurrent and appellate jurisdiction
in the Crown Colony of Hong Kong were promulgated on the 9th of March 1859,
though still existent, though it had been severely and definitely repeated week before.
There Letters Patent were only received here by Your Grace's department and published in the Government Gazette.
