I hereby appoint Daniel Brooke Robertson, Esquire, Her Majesty's Consul at Canton, and the Honorable Charles St George Cleverly, Esquire, Member of the Legislative Council of the Colony of Hong Kong, and Surveyor-General of the said Colony, to be Commissioners to investigate, on the part of the British Government, in terms of the sixth article of the Convention of Peking, the claims of Chinese to property on that portion of the township of Kowloon which is by the said Article of the said Convention ceded to the Queen of Great Britain by the Emperor of China, and which has been this day publicly taken.
