Auditor of

Colonial and Consular Accounts in China.
The appointment was given
to me by Mr Labouchere at a
originally given salary of £... per annum on my arrival at Hongkong
when I was informed that
half of it only was to be paid by the Colony, the other half being derivable from Consular monies.
The half salary paid by the Colony
is to be drawn in
the manner pointed out in the Colonial Regulations and it is
