9. Newcastle to Kek. They receipt of your Letter of the 20 inst having to acquaint you for the offer of his services in any arrangement consequent on the retirement of M. Bubone.

The Duke at 4. Roxy. His Grace desires me to say that he is not at present able to state how the Judicial vacancy will be filled up, but that he will take into consideration your wishes for employment in the Colony in the office of Chief Magistrate, or any other situation that may be raised to your notice.

If the Chief Magistrate's office is raised to a higher rank, together with the emoluments of the place, it might suit his mind, and a gentleman of your standing - failing other candidates.
