In doing myself the honour of acknowledging receipt of your letter of the 31 Ultimo. I beg to inform you that in pursuance of my instructions from the Duke of Newcastle I have drawn upon you for the amount of my salary as Conveyancer, to be paid to "John Comensrication" [?].
I also report for the information of the Colonial Office that I purpose leaving Hong Kong on the 18th Inst and that my address after that date will be "Harper & Co – Belfast".
Letters addressed in London, Communication addressed to the Senior Clerk, Colonial Office, Downing Street, S.W. or Whitehall, will always reach me.
