Upon which, we have the honor to state that the Superannuation contributions collected at Hong Kong for the periods referred to, and paid into the Treasury Chest for remittance to England, were as follows;

And this amount was subsequently paid into the Exchequer. No deductions appear to have been made from half-salaries paid by the Agent General.

In the year 1854/5 the salaries of four Officers, and in 1855/6 the salaries of three Officers, were borne on the Parliamentary Grant; but as the accounts do not give particulars of the sums collected, there are no means of distinguishing, in respect of the years 1854/5 and 1855/6 between contributions from salaries paid out of Colonial Revenue, and those paid out of the Parliamentary Grant.

As regards the contribution for the year 1856/7 and the quarter to 30 June 1857, as there was no grant for salaries for those periods, the whole of the contributions must have been made from salaries paid out of Colonial Revenue.

The dates and particulars of the payments into the Treasury Chest on account of Superannuation contributions, are as follow;
