In reply to your letter of the 18th instant,
explaining the circumstances under which it is
proposed to afford a sum of £500 for
Furniture for the Private Apartments of the
Government House at Hong Kong; I am directed
by the Lords Commissioners of Her Majesty's Treasury
to acquaint you, for the information of the Duke
of Newcastle, that they are prepared to admit that Sir Hercules Robinson is placed in an
unfavourable
