your relinquishing of the office of Lieutenant Governor of Hong Kong may be considered.

I am desired to acquaint you that the additional information which has thus been brought to their Lordships' Notice as to the nature of your Colonial service and the circumstances under which you quitted Hong Kong, has led them to the opinion that your case is one which may be dealt with under the provisions of the recent Act of Parliament regulating the grant of superannuation allowances.

I am also to acquaint you that it is their Lordships' opinion that it is a case in which their Lordships would be justified in granting the highest rate allowed in a case of abolition of office.
