His Excellency has given that letter his careful consideration and, as the points put forward by you seem to have been considered by the Honorable the Chief Justice at the trial, repeats that he cannot remit the sentence passed. His Excellency can only undertake to report particulars of the case to the Secretary of State for the Colonies, and request his permission to transfer the Prisoners to India.
