the other eight over the right and left loins at the back.__ It suggested, though not proved, by the prosecution that the deceased was out watering Cabbages in the field, but, as both the time, and the darkness of the night, render this at least improbable, and as the prisoners, in making their report, are positive as to the attack by the deceased with the bamboo pole, the suggestion and the inference are hardly to be taken into consideration in weighing the nature of the offence of the prisoners.
The Prisoners then sent in one of the Patrol to report the occurrence to the Subahdar of the Guard and he did report that they had caught a thief, and that he was wounded. The Prisoners, on being questioned by the Subahdar and Lieut. Richmond, at once informed them of the whole circumstances, and made no concealment whatever of the part they had taken in the affair.
