Richmond, the Officer in command of the detachment, ordered out a patrol to go in the direction indicated by the Subahdar as that in which the attack had been made upon him, directing at the same time the Subahdar to instruct the patrol, that, in order to catch the thieves, they were to send out one man about fifty yards in advance, and, so soon as he was attacked, he was to call out, and the remainder of the patrol were then to go to his assistance, and secure the thief. The Subahdar asked if the men were to take their arms, to which Lieut. Richmond replied, certainly. The Subahdar then ordered the Guard to fall in, and the Corporal Gooruuditta, and Blankah and the two privates requitted, being the next for duty on the Roster, the Subahdar ordered them to take their arms, gave them the instructions about the method they were to pursue in order to catch the thieves, and
