In support of this application I beg to submit a Copy of a Certificate from the Colonial Surgeon to the effect that a temporary absence from the Colony each summer is necessary for all Government officers. Certificates to the same effect could, if necessary, be obtained from every Medical Practitioner in the Colony. But the Correctness of the fact that not only all the Public Officers from the Chief Justice downwards, but the Merchants, and the Members of the Legal and Medical Professions, all find it indispensable for the preservation of health and efficiency to break the summer by trips to some other, more northern Port.
