In reply I have to state that the Annual Blue Book Returns will be found to furnish every item of information particularized by Mr. Cave - save one, last, referring to newspapers their number and circulation; and this information can be readily given if considered important.
Mr. Cave's suggestion of additional Returns seems to be founded on the supposition that the statistical volume printed annually by the Trade embraces all the Returns furnished by the Colonies to Her Majesty's Government; but it should be observed that this volume is compiled from the Colonial Blue Books and does not comprise the entire information to be found therein.
