I have the honor to inform you that as the Criminal Sessions opened on the 18th instant, the Defendant in the above case rose to make a motion of which he had given notice, viz: that he should have further time to plead.

He founded the application on Affidavits which shewed that he had been labouring under an attack of Ophthalmia and was unable to read or write. Considering the peculiar-
