The Secretary of State for the Colonies by the outgoing mail, relative to various proceedings which have occurred in the Harbor Master's Department since my return from England to that Office, and whereby my reputation and Character have been so severely Compromised.

Under these circumstances I have the honor to beg you may be pleased to obtain the sanction of His Excellency The Governor for a Copy of this Letter to accompany by this mail to His Grace The Secretary of State for the Colonies, such Dispatches, as may refer to my Case, so that by the time of departure of Next Outgoing Mail I may be afforded an opportunity of exculpating myself from the blame, which has been attributed to me.
