The cables on 15th to the effect that it would be better to have the Attorney General... out of the Council than in it. Day nonspecific leaves trial

1. Mt. Merivale. The question so be, subordinating the Attorney General to be expected, whom is you Appoint instead. I should suggest the Treasurer for being purely a ministerial Officer, his duties could not conflict with the administrative functions devolved on Members of the Executive Council. Assume the appointment will be approved.

The question does not got an answer - assuming lintel Meason or Me Adami appointment will be approved.

It is the opinion of Merivale and Blackwood are of one mind.

Reference: Minute 2nd from Rough that the presence in the Council of the Laws Adviser is not a precedent.

R. Predicial Officer

Sir F. Robinson.

Though it is deemed undesirable that the Chief Justice of a Colony should have a Seat in the Executive Council, the present case seems to have rendered that arrangement un avoidable. It is only for a temporary measure.

For if Mr. Adams be appointed Chief Justice, he will cease to be a Member of Executive Council. For if Mr. Adams be you with the si of channel too clear of as temptation to another himself in politics and parts, dispute not to affect his conduct in the Made to prejudge questions when die on Joint. But this does not apply to the Law Officer of the Crown.

In the end, I report it with be sufficient the appointment of Me ledoms as a Law Officer, touching perhaps the objection, the appointment of Judicial Officer to take a position.
