Sir,

Referring to the correspondence that has already taken place between Major General Sir Charles van Straubenzee, and the Honorable Frederick Bruce regarding the promontory now-loon ao as a temporary Encamping ground for the troops arriving in China, to form part of the Expedition; I have the honor to inform your Excellency that I have arranged to occupy the promontory tomorrow, by landing there the detachment of the 44th Regiment which arrived at Hongkong.

His Excellency
