Salary - Nevertheless as the principle of paying at the rate of one half of the Salary of the Governor has been established here, for future I would recommend that holders of the Office should not at all events receive less than that proportion.

The Salary originally attached to this office was £1800 a year, it was reduced in 1852 to £1,200, the amount at which it at present remains. I am of opinion that considering the rank and duties of the Office, the Salary should not be less than £1000.

The Attorney General receives at present £1,000 a year, with private practice. He is liberally paid for the duties performed for the Government, and I recommend no change in this particular.
23. This being a free port the duties of the Colonial Treasurer are light compared to what they are in other Colonies with an equal revenue. I would nevertheless advise that the Salary of the Office, so long as it be continued in its present form, be raised from £800 to £1000.
