I understand that the post of chief Magistrate at Hong Kong is vacant. I venture to apply for the appointment. I took my degree at Oxford (a third class) in 1842. I read for the bar with Mr E. Lawes (since deceased) & Mr Basevi and was called to the bar in 1845. I have since then travelled the Western circuit, and have had the honor on previous occasions of submitting to the Colonial Office favorable testimonials from the leaders of that circuit. I sat as Deputy for Mr Bevan, in the County Court of Cornwall, as I believe acquitted myself...
