Mr. M Hickson, the recently arrived Crown Solicitor, Deputy Sheriff, Coroner, and Proctor, has tendered his resignation on the grounds that the salary of £285 a year is insufficient. After paying fifteen dollars a month office rent, little is left for a gentleman of his education and experience. The "Friend of China" will form an opinion for themselves whether that is sufficient.
During his short stay amongst us, Mr. Hickson's urbanity and strict attention to duty have won for him golden opinions on all hands.
A lengthened article on the foregoing will be found to some extent in the "Hong Kong Register".
