represented his wish that Sir Edward Lutton should select in this Country gentlemen for the same General Offices & Superintending Magistrate, and Gold Commissioner; as there are none on the spot who are eligible.
I conclude their services would be remunerated legitimately from Colonial funds. If this Government would accept such an Office I think he would be a judicious appointment - for he is a gentleman by birth and Education à Laver (a Solicitor) a man of good standing.
