Lordship's approval of the abolition of my Office, and the pay of it before mentioned.
When I received this announcement, I immediately wrote to the Colonial Secretary reminding him of the extract from your Lordship's despatch, which he had sent me some months previous, to the effect that Your Lordship desires Mr. Governor to inform me.
I then memorialized Your Lordship, pointing out that the reported abolition of my Office was incorrect; that it had not been abolished and must continue to exist as long as the Ordinance regulating Land laws remained.
The reply to this Memorial ran that for reasons not stated, my letters requesting the necessary particulars had not been answered, and that Your Lordship did not intend to send me any particulars, and that so my prayer could not be acceded to.
