I have the honor humbly to acknowledge the receipt of Your Lordship's letter dated 6th inst., and beg in extenuation of my protracted delay in replying thereto, to state, that such delay occurred consequent on my absence from England to the Channel Islands for the benefit of my health, and have submissively to assure Your Lordship, that immediately on receipt of Your Lordship's letter I hastened to London; therefore trust this explanation may prove sufficiently satisfactory.
