PRINED FOR PARLIAMENT
:fe March 1260
I have the honor to inform you
with reference to
my
letter to your
address of the 17th instant, that a still more important witness
one mentioned more than any
in
that letter, who can give evidence
in
the Caldwell case, arrived in England yesterday,
or
tomorrow, by the Southampton Mail from Hong Kong.
That witness is Mr. Scarth
(of
The Canton & Hong firm The Right Honourable
Sir Edward Bulwer Lytton Bart. M.P. Secretary of State for the Colonies).
