I had hoped, these points being settled, to forward a complete list of property (ground and buildings) held by the War Department. During my tenure of the Command-in-Chief at Hong Kong, I have drawn up lists of property held by the War Department, distinguishing such as applied for to the Colonial Government, and that of the property recommended by me for purchase by the War Department.
In the letter from Mr. Merivale of the 13th July 1858, is the following paragraph.
