If the public interest

compels Her Majesty's

Government to abolish or

alter the legal valuation

of the coin introduced

from

Britain into this Colony, it should be observed

and so introduced the Colony entirely by legislation Government

Agency, it is only just

that the Government

rather than individuals

should bear

any

loss from

depreciation attending such

a measure. As regards the Colonial Secretary's

Minute furnished to the Department in the year

1858, that a large proportion

of the local revenue is levied
