I therefore hoped he might be employed elsewhere by the Govt of the E. S. who desired to retain him in the public Service.

Gen Cap replied that Mr Keenan had in some degree justified himself regarding his conduct in the assault referred to & had offered such explanations in other respects that he had been permitted to resume the performance of his duties but that he would communicate to the President the views of H. M's Govt with ref to the employment of Keenan.

If H. M's Govt determine to proceed against the Consul with effect, it might be desirable that H. M's Minister should be enabled.
