that the duties of Harbor Master and

Emigration Officer will be well and faithfully performed during my absence

by Mr Newman, Chief Clerk, who is

thoroughly acquainted with the working in

every detail, and whose general

character is such that I can recommend him

strongly and unhesitatingly for the appointment to the favorable consideration of His Excellency.

The Marine Magistrate's work is generally

so trifling that it devolves but little on

the duties of the Magistrates at the Police

Court.
