The questions raised by the acting attorney general in the letter forwarded with your despatch have been submitted to the Law Officers of the Crown, who have given their opinion that so far as the Order in Council invests the Supreme Court at Hong Kong with criminal jurisdiction over offences committed by British subjects in Japan, or makes Hong Kong the place of punishment of criminals convicted in Japan, no Ordinance of the Legislature of Hong Kong nor any further Act is necessary.
