on
the arrival and departure of
Mails, - has induced me
to recommend
that merit should be rewarded in
this manner; not only because, in
this instance, I am of opinion that
such
an increase is justly due; but because I consider such a step is
Calculated to induce other Clerks in
the office
to endeavour to
distinguish
themselves as M Machado has done,
and so the service would be much
improved, I therefore respectfully solicit that I
under these circumstances,
May be favoured with the approval of The Honorable, the Acting Governor
to the same, previous to my bringing the Matter under the
favourable notice
of the Authorities at Home
(Signed) M. Mitchell,
Acting Post Master.
