I believe that I possess the confidence of the Community both European and native. No Official possesses the confidence of the latter in an equal degree. In conclusion I confidently appeal to His Excellency whether I have ever spared myself physically or mentally in the service of Government through my whole Career or ever showed any lack of capacity or intelligence in the conduct of the various Departments with which I have been entrusted; and I respectfully hope that His Excellency will endorse my present application with his approval, and such mention of my services as he may consider them to merit.
