forwarded a brief memorandum mine on the subject of the present vacancy in the Office of Chief Magistrate of this Colony, in which I regretted that the instant departure of the mail Steamer prevented giving in detail my reasons for adhering to the recommendation, already once acted upon, that Mr. Meigles(?) Banister be selected for the post.
