An allowance of six dollars a month for a messenger, and a small sum for Office Contingencies, Stationery and Printing will also be required.

The large amount of responsibility and extra work thrown upon myself would lead me also to hope for some revision of my Salary. This, however, I propose to treat of in a separate letter.

It is also of the greatest importance that Your Excellency should impress upon the different Consuls the necessity of great regularity and punctuality in their transactions with this office. Requisitions for Funds should be sent in at least three months in advance - And all Accounts closed immediately on the termination of each quarter, and transmitted here by the first succeeding Opportunity.
