be anticipated and at once brought to the notice of the Secretary of State, and that the granting of the leave, if applied for, be deferred as a matter of necessity, until such time as the Government may find itself in a position to meet the wishes of the Chief Justice.

"Consideration was given to the application of the Honorable The Chief Justice for leave to proceed to England on Medical certificate. Reference was made to the Resolution of Council passed on the 10th February last; and, after discussion, it was resolved,

That, as in all probability an early Mail will bring to this Government the intimation of the intentions of the Secretary of State with reference to the Chief Justiceship and other Government Appointments, the Honorable The Chief Justice be requested to defer his application until the decision of the Secretary of State shall enable the Executive Council to advise His Excellency The Governor to accede to the wishes of the Chief Justice.
