"was stopped: had the Commission not been satisfied on this matter I could have brought witnesses who could have proved that Spettai was induced to sue at Haw's request, and that as soon as the ship was sold (and which I was told he had been discharged from custody without being paid the amount for which he sued him) other witnesses could also have proved these facts.

With regard to the remarks on paragraph 13, I respectfully submit that the finding of the Commission is rather extravagant; they infer that from my knowledge of the language and the appointment I hold, I ought to know every vessel which had been a private vessel, and even supposing I had not seen or heard of them before, who had been at the time I visited the vessels, whether PoRshing was hoard or not, I formed my opinion of the character of the vessels from what I saw.
