opportunity of forming
a correct
decision and am willing to set it off
against the other. But the verdict of
the Jury
was not to the effect that the
Defendant had proved his special
plea
which in culpability but that
the prosecution has not by its evidence
substantiated its accusation that
Favant brought the government
into
contempt - If I were to write
at all I must write at
full length
And when
my long letter arrived in
June the whole interest of the matter
would be over.
Officially therefore
I shall not write although
I
am
obliged to you for your suggestion.
The only thing that I should wish
would be a thorough investigation into
the whole
of my
conduct in this and
all other matters while in
office.
Yours sincerely
