Memoranda that it would hardly be fair to myself and others whose names have been mixed up with them that their real character and the circumstances which accidentally kept them back for a time should not be made generally known. I would therefore very respectfully suggest to His Excellency The Governor the propriety of the publication in the Government Gazette of Mr. Wade's letter and Mr May's Memoranda or should such a course be deemed inconvenient that publicity be given to them through the local press.

I have the honor to acknowledge receipt of your Letter of the 31st Ult forwarding copy of the Memoranda made by Mr. May and which was referred to during the inquiry into the Charges made against me by Mindley; also copy of a Letter from him forwarding the same to you.

Having perused the memoranda I can only say that very little more can be said by me in answer to the "damning proofs" which they contain of my complicity with robbers, murderers, and pirates", which Mr Anstey led the Commission to believe they would have done if produced. I think
